French pastry chef Aurelien Breguet and his partner Kia arrived in Kuranda 2 years ago and wanted to create something unique and original for the town. Their main focus was to bring fresh and healthy food at an affordable price to the people. We started with an empty space and created a special place where people love to meet.. Aurelien has been a qualified Pastry Chef for the past 10 years. He discovered his passion for food as soon as he began his trainee-ship which he graduated from in Geneva, Switzerland. During his studies, he learned the traditional techniques of French and Swiss pastry. Two years ago, he decided that he wanted to own his own business and develop a new way of life. With his partner Kia, he soon found his way to Kuranda, an amazing little village set in the tropical rainforests of Far North Queensland and realised this was where they wanted to settle down and start their new business. After much searching, they decided to open their small business in the Original Kuranda Markets which have been operating for the past 30 years in Kuranda. A simple food stall selling waffles, corn on the cob and home made real lemonade started the couple on the road to realise their dream to open a cafe. The delicious waffles and sweet corn were soon a favorite amongst members of the community and visitors to Kuranda and before long, Aurelien knew they had to open the cafe – and soon!
So began Petit Cafe – One of the best kept secrets in Kuranda and much cheaper than a ticket to Paris to get the delights of French Cuisine – to be enjoyed in the rainforest of Kuranda…
